MESSAGE FROM FORMER EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, JIM WARFORDOriginally published Friday, August 21, 2009.  I love this time of year! No, not keeping one eye on the Weather Channel. I mean the start of a new school year and I do miss being part of a school right now. There's nothing quite as exciting as the first days of school. And I'm hearing that from folks all over the state. I've heard that from Jayne Ellspermann, principal of West Port HS in Ocala, Susan Persis, principal of Indian River Elementary in Edgewater, Sue Smith, AP at Ketterlinus Elementary in St. Augustine, to name just a few. Jayne says they're, "Ready to ROCK at Westport! And so is FASA. We're ready and willing to step it up for you this year. This summer our passionate Past President, Fran Giblin passed the gavel to a dynamic new President, Dr. Marie Wright, at a great summer conference... even though everybody told us we couldn't have a conference this year. President Marie Wright's vision for FASA is for us to be a leader in using every new technology tool available to help you "connect and collaborate" with each other. She believes that communication is at the heart of everything we do. So, throughout the summer we asked what you thought is a short survey. Here's what you told us. 1. Do you text on a cell phone? Yes 75% No 8.33% N/A 16.67% 2. Do you use the following? Facebook 66.67% Twitter 33.33% Linkedin 8.33% Myspace 6.03% Blogs 41.67% Listserve 50.29% Other 16.67% 3. Please rate how valuable this is to you with 1 being not valuable. The weighted score was 8.17 with 92.66% of you rating it at 7, or above, and 41.66% rating it very valuable. This survey underscores the growing importance of technology to you on the job and the majority of your comments cited your desire to improve in this area. FASA can help. Tools that will not only let us keep you connected to Tallahassee, but tools you can use to connect and collaborate with each other.
